Scientific Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics offers new fracture treatment method

Scientific Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics has created an algorithm for the most effective treatment of any bone injuries, orthopedic surgeon Karen Poghosyan told Tert.am.

“It means that the traumatological units of medical centers will not need up-to-date equipment and instruments. The new algorithm shows the most effective treatment of various fractures,” he said.

The new algorithm also reduces the possibility of complications. The Center developed the algorithm after 5-year-long studies, with 346 patients undergone surgery and postoperative care.

“The application of this method enabled us to reduce complications by 20 percent. Our five-year work and comparison of statistics have shown that this to be the best option,” Poghosyan said.

The Center often receives patients with rather serious complications.

“In such cases, we have to perform a number of surgeries,” the doctor says. He warns against self-treatment.
