Cable television networks turn out to be the most rapidly developing telecommunication industry in Armenia, a study suggests.

The latest findings by Ameria, a consulting group of companies providing a comprehensive package of professional legal counseling, advisory and other services in different areas, reveal that the global economic crisis had the lowest impact on Armenia’s telecommunication market. The sector’s gains topped the 2008 records by 7%.

The telecommunication market saw its profits grow more than fourfold from 2008 until 2013.

The study further suggests that last year alone, the sector owed 64% of its gains to mobile telecommunication, 17% - to the internet access and 13% - to landline telephones which haven’t yet fallen out of use as 68.7% of the population (aged between 15-69) turns out to uses this means of communication despite being active subscribers of mobile services (98.4%).
