Greek mechanic turns car into farm machinery

A Greek car repair shop owner has discovered a lucrative sideline - modifying cars into agricultural machinery for farmers.

More than a million cars had been abandoned by their owners unable to sell them and unable to afford to keep them on the road in the cash-strapped country.

That has left many garages and car repair firms struggling but mechanic Spyros Droulias, from Elis in western Greece, is now modifying cars for use as farm vehicles.

He said: "I like to combine the practical services of a farm vehicle with the comfort of a car. And to make it something fun."

Pictured is his latest creation, which he calls the Ford Freza, with the word Freza meaning 'Milling Machine' in Greek.

He said: "The new owner can carry out the usual agricultural tasks in his fields with the same comfort as if he was driving the family car."
