Guanabana and cancer: Armenian doctors skeptical about ‘magic fruit’
Armenian oncologists turn out to be somewhat skeptical about the cancer-treating effects of guanabana.
Speaking to Tert.am, a doctor from the National Oncology Center, Alexander Seinyan, said it isn’t absolutely easy to evaluate the fruit’s impact on patient’s suffering from tumors. “I haven’t met such patients in my practice, so I find it difficult to answer that question … I have heard about that fruit, but I think any fruit can replace chemotherapy,” he said, not ruling out that guanabana may really be effective in the treatment and prevention of cancer diseases.
Tert.am reported earlier that Armenia imported over 1 ton of guanabana since January.
Levon Badalyan, the head of the Chemotherapy Department of Yerevan’s Nairi medical center said the “magic fruit” has helped none of his 10 patients. “Only one [patient’s] life was prolonged for two months,” he told our correspondent.
