Mr Mario Mazzola, Chief Development Officer at Cisco Systems, will receive the Armenian president’s award for his global contribution to IT development this year, Chief of the Armenian Presidential Staff Vigen Sargsyan told reporters on Wednesday.
“The institution of the IT award is only part of the Armenian president’s support program. This is important for making Armenia better known to the world and developing tourism in Armenia. It is the fifth year since the program has been implemented is, in a sense, part of the Open Skies policy launched and implemented pursuant to the Armenian president’s instructions,” Mr Sargsyan said.
President of the Executive Council of the Award Committee of the World Information Technologies (WIT) Hovik Musayelyan said:
“The fifth award is being presented this year. Each awardee comes to Armenia and gives lectures, which is a great honor to us,” Mr Musaelyan said.
Mr Ralph Yirikian, VivaCell-MTS General Manager, who is sponsoring the program, said that the company has been interested in contributing to Armenia’s progress since it established cooperation with the program.
“This is a target program, and we have been supporting this program since the very first days. It is most important for us to make Armenia better know to the world day by day,” Mr Yirikian.
