Electronic library opened at Yerevan Medical University
Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) has proved once again it is among the leaders in introducing up-to-date education technologies in Armenia’s higher education system, Armenia’s Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan said at the opening of the YSMU electronic library.
The new library will provide students with access to e-education and e-examinations.
“Raising the level of objective examinations requires reducing or ruling out the role of one of the major factors, namely, the human factor. This type of examination makes it possible to almost rule out any contacts with lecturers thus reducing corruption risks. So students have to make best use of this electronic class room not only during exams, but also in the education process,” Mr Ashotyan said.
The minister said that a proposal has been made to conduct examinations by means of computer systems. A preliminary survey in cooperation with World Bank experts has shown implementing such a program is realistic in Armenia.
“Launching the system requires about $12 million. I believe we can think of adopting the best international standards in implementing entrance examination reforms – on-line examinations,” Mr Ashotyan said.
