The Russian cabinet of ministers has approved an agreement outlining the terms of the Russian-Armenian university’s operation in Yerevan.

The measure is expected to boost the deepening of bilateral ties in the humanitarian sector, as well as the future development of Armenia’s educational services’ export and the strengthening of the Russian language’s positions in Armenia, RIA Novosti reports, citing the Russian Government’s website.

It is particularly proposed to ask the Russian Ministry of Education and Science to negotiate with Armenia on behalf of the Government over the agreement's signing.

The university, which offers its study programs in Russian, operates in accordance with educational standards effective in the Russian Federation. In the first three years of their study, students are also required to take intensive courses of Armenian. The undergraduate and graduate level students can opt for professional study programs also in Armenian. Upon graduation, all students receive diplomas approved by both the Russian and Armenian Governments.
