Armenia’s minister of economy receives delegation of Microsoft Corporation

On May 25, RA Minister of Economy met with a delegation of "Microsoft" Corporation at the Ministry of Economy of RA, the press service of Armenia’s Ministry of Economy reports.

The delegation composed of Don Grantham, President at Microsoft Central and Eastern Europe region, Pilar Torres, General Manager at Microsoft Central and Eastern Europe region, Daniel Grabski, Chief Security Officer at Microsoft Central and Eastern Europe region and Yeva Hyusyan, Country Manager at Microsoft.

During the meeting RA Minister of Economy Karen Chshmaritian expressed gratitude to the representatives of Microsoft Corporation for the company's activities in past 10 years in Armenia, expressing hope that fruitful cooperation with Microsoft will be  continuous.

Don Grantham, in his turn, expressed gratitude to the Government  of  Armenia for its readiness to cooperate with the corporation and  assistance for the programs, implemented by Microsoft in Armenia. He informed that the company intends to carry out a number of prospective projects by confirming with RA Government a long-term cooperation in the sectors of education, security, protection of  intellectual property rights, innovation.

Karen Chshmaritian noted, that information technologies sector has a number of competitive advantages, particularly scientific research potential , corresponding to the international standards in the  sectors of engineering, computer science, physics and mathematics,  educated and talented workforce with technical skills and knowledge. According to the Minister, the aforementioned is an important precondition for establishment of representations of  multinational companies and  implement  joint programs.

The Minister added that there is legal framework corresponding to the best international standards for the protection of intellectual property in Armenia.

During the meeting the sides touched upon the importance of signing  a number of documents on cooperation with "Microsoft" on May 26 at the Government of RA.

It was mentioned that, as a result of signing the package of documents, is planned establishment of "Cloud" and mobile solutions regional center based on Microsoft Innovation Center Armenia, cooperation in the field of education and security, implementation of joint projects aimed at protecting intellectual property, which will significantly contribute to raise  Armenia's rating as country providing the newest technological solutions and protecting intellectual property rights

At the end of the meeting Karen Chshmaritian one more time underlined that the Government of RA is consistent in the issue related to the cooperation with multinational organizations and continuation of the policy aimed at ensuring the protection of intellectual property in Armenia.
