Triada Studio’s success Armenia’s remarkable achievement - Karen Vardanyan
Armenia has never before had such a success, Karen Vardanyan, Executive Director, of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), told Tert.am as he commented on the Armenia-based Triada Studio winning a prize at the recent Apple Design Award for the game Shadowmatic.
“It is a remarkable achievement,” he said.
The Shadowmatic developers are software engineer Bagrat Dabaghyan, designer Arsen Avoyan, composer Sergey Melkonyan and Ara Aghamyan.
Armenia hardly has any design schools, so “we have to bring up our fellows.” The prize will enhance Armenia’s international image as an IT-developer.
“We have a shortage of IT experts. But the advantage of game development is that it involves not only software engineers, but also designers, scriptwriters and other specialists,” Mr Vardanyan said.
About ten game developing companies have a potential. Moreover, they can compete at an open games championship, and winner company members are jury members.
“They have contacts with international experts and they are probably opening up new opportunities for companies,” Mr Vardanyan said.
