Russian FM’s visit to Baku aimed at preventing use of certain weapons in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone
Military expert Vladmir Yevseyev believes that Russian FM Serge Lavorv’s visited Baku to reach an agreement with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Azerbaijan not using certain types of Russian arms in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.
“I know the issue of the TOS-1A ‘Solntsepyok’, an analogue of ‘Buratino’, is on the agenda. I think the deployment of this system in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone must be completely ruled out. I think that Russia must press Baku and prohibit the use of the system in the conflict zone,” Mr Yevseyev told Tert.am.
The expert is concerned over the latest incidents on the Armenian-Russian border.
Asked if he does not consider Russia responsible for long-range weapons and other pieces of military equipment being at Azerbaijan’s disposal, he said:
“Let us be impartial. Te systems used during the actions this month were made in Turkey, not in Russia. So Russia should not be accused of what it has not actually done. Azerbaijan is mainly using weapons that are not of Russian make. It is actively using military optical systems made in Israel.”
Which of the sides is destabilizing the situation can easily be understood.
Hardly any facts are available that would prove Russian weapons were used in attacking the Armenian side, Mr Yevseyev said.
