Armenia’s minister of defense receives ICRC reps
Armenia’s Minister of Defense, Chairman of the Commission for POWs, Hostages and Missing Persons Seyran Ohanyan held a meeting on Wednesday with Mrs. Caroline Douilliez, Head of the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to Armenia, and Mr Patrick Vial, Head of the ICRC Eastern Europe and Central Asia Department.
The sides discussed current cooperation between Armenia’s Ministry of Defense and the ICRC Delegation to Armenia and future joint programs.
The ICRD representatives appreciated the contribution of Armenia’s government bodies, particularly, Ministry of Defense, to the work of the Commission for POWs, Hostages and Missing Persons and high-level cooperation.
Speaking of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mr Ohanyan said that the Azerbaijan-disseminated disinformation on missing persons and mass graves as well as unfounded accusations against the Armenian side are aimed at not only misleading the international community, but also criminally escalating anti-Armenian sentiments in Azerbaijan’s society.
Mr Ohanyan expressed his gratitude to the ICRD and its office in Armenia for high-level cooperation. He assured the ICRC representatives that Armenia’s relevant government bodies are willing to develop all the ICRC-launched humanitarian initiatives.
