Armenia’s Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan held a meeting on Tuesday a delegation headed by Mr David Cleave, Executive Director, International Science and Technology Center (ISTC).

Mr Ashotyan welcomed the delegation and thanked the ISTC for cooperation. Armenia highlights all the opportunities for scientific development and innovations.

On his part, Mr Cleave said that the ISTC is interested in scientific and technical cooperation with Armenia. Russia’s secession from the ISTC caused some problems, which have now been resolved.

Mr Ashotyan said that from the early to late 1990s, when Armenia joined the ISTC, Armenian science faced a problem of survival. However, the current task scientific development.

Internationalization of science is one of Armenia’s political priorities. In this context, Mr Ashotyan noted that Armenia will join the EU Horizon 2020 program next year, which affords new opportunities to use scientific funds.

“Our priority task is implementing competitive scientific projects and training young sciences,” Mr Ashotyan said.

Any international cooperation format is welcome if it facilitates commercialization of scientific projects.

The sides discussed mechanisms of financing joint scientific projects. The ISTC delegation also held meetings at the State Committee for Science and Center for Science and Technology. The sides expressed their willingness for further cooperation.
