Constitutional reforms unnecessary – NGO president
Armenia does not absolutely face the urgent demand for adopting a new constitution today, says Arshak Gasparyan, the president of the Yerevan-based NGO, “Social Justice”.
“My opinion is that it doesn’t address our country’s needs. It isn’t timely at all, ” he told our correspondent today, commenting upon the revised Constitution’s draft text.
Addressing the justification that the proposed changes aim to increase the judiciary’s independence, he said he doesn’t think that the Constitution in effect imposes any restrictions at all.
Gasparyan highlighted the proposed adoption of the state probation service, which he said will help administer an individual-centered justice.
