Safe surfing requires integrated approach: Today Marks Safe Internet Day
The Safe Internet Day is this year celebrated on February 9.
On this remarkable occasion, Safe Internet Armenia Coordinator Narine Khachatryan and Manager of Internet Society of Armenia Grigory Saghyan on Tuesday held a news conference to address the problems in the sector and the situation with internet safety in Armenia.
The national coordinator said that for the second year in row, they have been holding their annual events under the slogan, “Let’s Create a Safer Internet Together”. She said she knows from international experience that children aware of information technologies more easily overcome the most different risks on the web platform.
Grigory Saghyan, who is also Vice President at the Computer Emergency Response Team, said he thinks that a wider access to online resources helps better identify potential cyber criminals.
“Safe internet requires integrated measures; it is every-day work and education,” he added.
As serious concern, he said, is the fact that kids very often turn out better aware of internet technologies than their teachers and often demonstrate better knowledge and skills when it comes to using different web resources and tools. For her part, Narine Khachatryan highlighted the need to involve all the role-players and specialists in the activities towards increasing internet safety.
