Armenian students win 5 medals in Hong Kong school Olympiad

The Armenian school students’ team participating in a school Olympiad in Hong Kong, China, has already won one silver and four bronze medals.

According to a press release by the Ministry of Education and Science, four of them are students of the Physics and Mathematics School. Mikael Mkrtchyan won silver; the bronze winners are Narek Khandanyan, Sergey Nersisyan, Vahan Martirosyan and Arsen Hambardzumyan. The latter is reported to be from the college Photon.

The Olympiad kicked off on July 9.

The Armenian team is led by Smbat Gogyan, a senior researcher at the National Academy’s Institute of Mathematics, and Tigran Margaryan, a teacher of the Physics and Mathematics school.

The Georgian and Azerbaijani teams participating in the competitions have won one bronze medal each.
