Armenian IT exhibition offers new solutions after April war
The 12th annual Armenian IT exhibition "DigiTech Expo 2016" opened in Yerevan on Tuesday, showcasing new technological solutions elaborated by the domestic IT manufacturers following the April fighting over Nagorno-Karabakh.
Vahan Martirosyan, the newly appointed minister of transport and communication, was given the exceptional privilege to open the event together with the CEO of Ucom, the exhibition’s sponsor.
Before the high-ranking officials attending the ceremony would tour the pavilions, Karen Vardanyan, CEO of Armenian Information Technology Companies (which is the organizer of the event), introduced the innovative proposals which he said are aimed at increasing defense capacities with a special emphasis on education. “We have a shortage of specialists in the sector,” he admitted.
Minister Martirosyan said he is sure that Armenia, which is taking part in the Conference on Information Technologies, has quite a lot of things to show to world countries.
The three-day exhibition, being held at the Yerevan Expo Center, is expected to attract over 170 companies and around 60,000 visitors.
