New Mercedes-Maybach S 650 could be ultimate luxury convertible

This is the Mercedes-Maybach S 650 cabriolet which according to a press release cited by the Verge is heralding its arrival, the “ultimate in open-air exclusivity.”

The vehicle is equipped with a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 that puts out 621 horsepower and a mind-boggling 738 pound-feet of torque. Top speed is reported to be 155 mph.

Mercedes said the design philosophy behind the car is “Sensual Purity” — and that it is “both hot and cool at the same time.” It has a “waterfall-like” seat upholstery, with “flowing lines” built into the seat upholstery. The trim is designed to create a yachting feel, inspired by the outrageous Mercedes-Benz Style “Arrow 460-Granturismo” yacht.
