Earth to see solar eclipse on Feb 26

This weekend the moon will pass in front of the sun, creating a solar eclipse visible in the southern hemisphere.

The eclipse will take place on Sunday, February 26, and will leave a halo of light surrounding the sun, as normal sunlight is blocked out, the Mirror reports.

The eclipse will begin in Chile and pass over Argentina's Patagonia region before being visible across the South Atlantic Ocean and eventually in Angola. It will end near the border of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo at sunset.

This is the first of two solar eclipses happening in 2017. The second will occur over the USA on August 21.
