Azerbaijan’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) depends largely upon Armenia, an advisor to the Russian president on Eurasian integration said today, citing the consensus-based approach in decision-making processes.

“The Eurasian Economic Union is open to all the participants; in this case, however, the decision rests with Armenia,” Sergey Glazyev told reporters.

He also cited the right to veto as a possible step to ban the country from EEU accession efforts.

Glazev further dismissed the concerns that the idea to create the economic bloc, uniting Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Armenia, was an attempt to re-establish the USSR.
