An ethnic Armenian resident of Moscow has become the owner of an island in Russia’s Far East.

Narek Hovhannisyan now intends to open a tourist center and conduct quest games on the private land lot located close to Sakhalin, Tvzvezda.ru reports.

Hovhannisyan is known to have registered the island as his own property through a federal program.

“Owning a private island is an intriguing idea. I studied the Far East coast to find just several good options. I finally selected Chakmut, which is located at a geographically comfortable site,” he is quoted as saying.

Hovhannisyan added that he intends to organize the first quest game next summer.

The Far East Hectare program, enacted in 2017, allows each citizen of Russia to receive a private land lot in case of fulfilling several obligations.
