Armenian family faces expulsion in Belgium

The Belgian authorities have made a decision to expel an Armenian family from East Flanders.

The parents of three have found themselves at a loss amid preparations for New Year and Christmas  holidays, RTL reports.

The family's 11-year-old daughter, Christine, who started school in Belgium, shared her disappointment with the decision, expressing at the same time hope that the things will change for the better.

The decision is said to have given ground to a wide polemic in Belgium. The school where Christine studies also expresses regret over the fact.  

The family's lawyer, Marc Shampermans, says the only thing they can do in the current circumstances is to have the measure annulled.

The family of five had to spend the Christmas in a special center where a professor of Christina, Geert Faes, visited them. In comments to the Belgian TV channel, he says that the school, especially, Chritsine's classmates, will miss the girl a lot. Meantime, he expresses hope that the authorities will nonetheless decide against expulsion.
