A re-designed Apple Watch featuring a 15 per cent larger screen and better health monitoring will arrive in autumn, according to the latest leak.

The new 'Apple Watch Series 4', which could launch in the third quarter of this year, will also have a longer battery life, the Daily Mail reports, citing the source.

The analyst - who has one of the best track records when it comes to Apple rumours - says that the upgrade will have better health sensors without going into details about the design.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities says the devices will have a 'more trendy from factor design' than the rounded square format first introduced three years ago.

According to the leak, the increased size of the screen with probably result in a larger overall body, writes 9 to 5 Mac.

The current Apple Watch - series 3 - has a bespoke heart rate monitor, an accelerometer to measure movement and a gyroscope for navigation.

Current models come in two different case sizes: 38mm and 42mm.

If the head of the case increases proportionally to the screen it will be around 44mm and 48mm respectively on the new model.

However, the bezel size could be reduced so the body of the watch stays the same size, notes Apple Insider.

The analyst has predicted the company will sell between 22 to 24 million Apple Watches this year. That would be a 30 per cent increase from last year.

It is not known if the increase in size will result in more space for additional components.

Mr Kuo believes if the device has a larger lithium ion cell battery and longer battery life, the body of the watch will have to be larger.
