Armenia, Russia send batches of food in humanitarian aid to Syria
The Armenian and Russian ministries of emergency situations, in collaboration with a joint humanitarian response center and the Armenian Red Cross Society (ARCS), are sending 94 tons of humanitarian assistance to Syria in the form of food products.
The batches include sunflower oil, rice and buckwheat, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia.
The humanitarian cargo is being flown to Syria under the guidance of Colonel Pavel Grigoryan, the Armenian director of the center, and Colonel Artak Ghazaryan, a representative of the Ministry.
The Syrian Red Crescent, a partner organization of ARCS, is expected to receive, and deliver, the assistance to the population affected by the long-running war crisis in the country. Some 30 ton of the food will be distributed among potential beneficiaries by the Armenian Diocese of Beroa.
A Russian IL-76 jet will conduct three flights to the country from Yerevan between 11-13 July to deliver the entire cargo.
