UK House of Lords ratifies EU-Armenia agreement

The upper house of the United Kingdom’s Parliament, the House of Lords, has ratified the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed between the European Union in Armenia.

The Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, Tigran Balayan, reported the news late on Wednesday.

“The UK House of Lords has approved the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement,” he tweeted.

The House of Commons had earlier given its approval to the document, submitting it to the upper house.

So far, the parliaments of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Bulgaria, Poland and Luxembourg have ratified the agreement signed on the sidelines of the EU Eastern Partnership summit back in November.

 
 The Armenian National Assembly unanimously backed the deal on April 11.

On June 27, the parliament of Romania joined the other member states of the EU to express its support to the document.
