In-screen camera cutout seen on screen protector reportedly made for Samsung Galaxy A8s

Late last month, Samsung introduced a trio of new handsets including the Galaxy A8s.


While Samsung didn't provide the specs for the phone, it did say that the unit would carry "first-time adoption" technology. A teaser produced by the manufacturer showed what appeared to be a bezel-less all screen display without a notch. At the time, tipster Ice Universe said that Samsung would place a small cutout in a top corner of the display for the front-facing camera, Phone Arena reports.


Since then, Samsung has put a name on its use of an in-screen camera. The "Infinity O" panel, as dubbed by Sammy, features a small cutout in the top left corner for the front-facing selfie snapper. Today, SlashLeaks posted a photo of what is allegedly a screen protector for the Galaxy A8s. The image shows an in-screen cutout in the upper left corner of the screen, as you would expect. 


The Samsung Galaxy S10, due early next year, could also have an Infinity O display. By using an in-screen camera, a phone manufacturer doesn't need to use a notch or pop-up camera in order to offer a bezel-less edge-to-edge display. 


The Samsung Galaxy A8s is rumored to have the Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platform under the hood, along with 6GB of RAM inside. The handset is believed to be among the first from Samsung to have an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, and keeping the lights on could be a 3000mAh battery. On back, the phone will reportedly feature a vertically mounted tri-camera setup. Germany's All About Samsung published some concept renders(translated) of the Galaxy A8s, which you'll find at the top of this article. If the screen protector and the concept renders are legit, the Galaxy A8s just might be the first phone from Samsung to use the Infinity O panel.
