Mnatsakanyan: Armenia highly values US assistance
The United States' role for Armenia has been paramount since the early days of our independence, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said today, addressing the participants of the forum “Values in Change: The Armenian Diplomacy in a Changing World”.
Armenia’s top diplomat praised especially Washington’s active engagement in the maintenance of regional peace. “We highly appreciate the United States' economic and financial assistance, which has essentially contributed to our socio-economic stability since the early years of independence. We are confident that the platform of the strategic dialogue with the United States contains new opportunities for expanding and deepening the cooperation agenda,” he said.
Mnatsakanyan also stressed the importance of the political dialogue and partnership support to the ongoing reforms (as well as the state institutions) for the developing cooperation based on the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement with the EU.
As major foreign policy priorities, the minister emphasized particularly the cooperation with the neighboring Georgia and Iran. He added that the development of relations with China “is gaining a special importance in the light of the current global changes”.
“Armenia is going to consider the engagement of global infrastructure projects, relying on our national and regional agenda,” he said.
