Antikontrafakt 2019: State Revenue Committee officials discuss intellectual property rights at Yerevan-hosted international forum

A delegation from the State Revenue Committee (SRC) attended the Antikontrafakt 2019 international conference in Yerevan from November 12 to 13 to discuss mechanisms dealing with intellectual property-related concerns and fight against the illegal trafficking of industrial products.

The Armenian officials also joined the panel debate ″Customs Authorities' Role and Problems in the Field of the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights″.

According to an official press release summing up the meetings, the participants addressed, in particular, the need and perspectives of cooperation between customs agencies and private organizations and the efficient protection mechanisms and methods to counteract the illegal trafficking of goods.

Andranik Gevorgyan, the head of the Customs Affairs and Intellectual Property Division at the SCR Legal Department, and Ruzanna Kusikyann, a customs inspector at the Risk Analysis and Management Division (IT Department), briefed the participants on the legsislative mechanisms and judicial practice guaranteeing the protection of intellectual property in Armenia, elaborating on the set of tools used in the risk management procedures (which secured the Best Online Information Resource prize for Armenia at the at the GITI 2019 Cybersecurity and IT Innovation Conference in Tbilisi, Georgia).

Held annually on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Antikontrafakt is a key interstate platform enabling government officials, international experts, scholars and public figures from the member states to discuss mechanisms of fighting illegal trafficking (including counterfeit products) and fostering constructive dialogues to elaborate joints solutions for developing a single market.
