Tigran Avinyan attends digital solutions forum in Yerevan

Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan on Monday took part in a Yerevan-hosted regional conference discussing the role of digital technologies in commerce.

In his speech at the event, entitled Digital Solutions for Cross-Border Cooperation and Trade Facilitation, Avinyan emphasized particularly the Armenian Government's priority focus on programs ensuring the State Revenue Committee's (SRC) swift and unhampered work.

″We highly appreciate international organizations’ support to the development of tax and customs services. And this conference today is taking place in the frameworks of one of them - the EU-funded Support to Migration and Border Management Program,″ he noted.

Avinyan also called the guests’ attention to the agenda choice of starting the event with the signing of bilateral documents with the Georgian Revenue Service and the Iran Customs Administration.

He expressed hope that the deals will lead to positive developments on the regional level, contributing to the state’s development and the strengthening of external ties.

The deputy premier added that the Government also essentially encourages the activities of state institutions guding their work by digitalization and modernization agendas. ″The State Revenue Committee has already recorded major achievements, such as the single window system securing the automatization of a range of customs procedures, the atomized reception of permission documents provided by other agencies, as well as the electronic arrangement of sharing information with other countries’ customs bodies.

“The SRC does not stop at the achievements reached; it is currently implementing ambitious projects to facilitate the launch of tools of atomized learning, big data analysis and artificial intelligence. All the enumerated steps are largely aimed at the digitalization of transboundary trade and are a step forward towards paperless trade,″ he said.
