Panasonic has unveiled the world’s first High Dynamic Range (HDR) capable virtual reality eyeglasses at CES in Las Vegas this week, the Daily Mail reports.

The technology allows wearers to view content in a greater range of colors and luminance compared to that of a traditional display.

The steampunk-style glasses are equipped with earbuds on each of the straps, which the Japanese firm said were designed in a way ‘users will feel as if they are wearing eyeglasses.’

Panasonic has also achieved the ability to project natural and smooth images without the ‘Screen door effect’ that plagues most virtual reality (VR) glasses – it looks like you are viewing the world through a mesh screen.

Traditional VR glasses tend to be larger and wrap around the user's head, but Panasonic has taken a different route with its design - they mimic the strap of eyeglasses.
