Russian Prime Minister Mishustin honors Tigran Sargsyan with first-class government award  

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has honored Tigran Sargsyan with a first-class government medal, highly appreciating his tenure, in the past couple of years, as the chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

At the special ceremony, held on the sidelines of the Eurasian Inter-Governmental Council’s session in Almaty (Kazakhstan), the chief of the Russian cabinet also praised Sargsyan's efforts to sustain Armenia's economic growth records in the period of the 2008-2009 global crisis (when he was the country's prime minister).

“It’s a great honor for me to hand over the First Class Stolypin Medal to you on behalf of Russia. I am sure there is no need to introduce you in this hall. You were in charge for the Armenian government in a difficult period that witnessed the global economic crisis but managed, nonetheless, to carry out a number of economic reforms, emforcing effective anti-crisis measures. Everyone, undoubtedly, values your friendly relations - including with Russia - and your contribution to the strengthening of cooperation between our countries. In the period of your tenure as the Board’s chairman, you successfully fulfilled you tasks together with your colleagues. I would to thank you now for the great job, and taking the chance, also congratulate you on your birthday which you celebrated recently. I wish you good luck”, ARMENPRESS quotes him as saying.

Sargsyan, for his part, thanked the Russian premier for the warm words, adding that he accepts the honor as an appreciation ″of not only my personal work but also the entire Board staff″.  

Sargsyan is completing his tenure as the Board's chairman on January 31 but will maintain his status of an international official, headng the Eurasian Development Bank's (EDB) Digital Initiatives Foundation (which aims to boost economic digitalization processes in the EAEU member states and Tajkiistan, countries affiliated with the EDB, in an efffort to boost their economic growth and expend trade-economic relations).

Eurasian Inter-Governmental Council is scheduling its session in Minsk, Belarus on April 9-10, 2020.
