Karabakh parliament officials host Armenia's representative to European Court

The president of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) National Assembly, Artur Tovmasyan, on Friday received a delegation led by Yeghishe Kirakosyan, the Armenian representative to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).

The discussion at the meeting, bringing together also the parliament vice speaker and several lawmakers, unfolded over the post-war realities. Tovmasyan called the guests' attention to the Armenian captives' rights, stressing the urgent importance of ther rapid return from Azerbaijan.

An extended meeting which followed later attracted members of the Standing Committees on Foreign Relations, and State and Legal Affairs, who introduced the interstate legal process.

Armenia lodged an appeal with the Strasbourg court after after the war  back in November, complaining against  gross violations of human rights and war crimes in the period of the 44 fighting. The interstate complaint Armenia vs. Azerbaijan was submitted on February 1.

According to an official press release summing up the meeting, the parliamentarians discussed also the problem of the displaced population's property rights and the fate of the captivated Armenians.

The meeting was also attended by Liparit Dremeyan, the head of the Office of the Armenian Representative to the ECHR, and Igor Mirzakhanyan, a legal expert.
