Armenia is the poorest country in the region, according to the poverty rate, we are poor even from Central Asian countries, and in the case of the CIS countries we have a higher poverty rate. Economist Suren Persian told Tert.am about this.

It should be noted that the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recently wrote in which people particularly insisted that people live 50% better.

"My claims that people live by about 50 percent better, some respond nervous. On July 27, only more than 50,000 people were on the banks of Sevan, the vast majority of Yerevan and 9 regions. The family with the family is expensive, a tangible expense. Where is that expense done? Why wasn't it done on this scale before? "Pashinyan said.

In response to Pashinyan's allegations, the economist noted that in general, the economic situation should not be judged by one or two days or to make judgments.

"Usually, many Armenians are resting in Sevan these months, as well as foreigners who come to Armenia, they go to Sevan for a few days, they are relaxed, they are relaxed. This is a common phenomenon in terms of this stage of Armenia's tourism. In the case of Sevan, hotels, beaches are mostly working for two months a year. This refers to July-August during the rest of the time they are mainly idle and we need to work for money to cover the expenses of the whole year, "he said.

According to the economist, there are several such important indexes, such as poverty index when addressing well-being.
He informed that in the last 2023 statistics, poverty in Armenia is 23.7%, extreme poverty is about 1.2%. Over the past seven years, the poverty rate has decreased by only 4 to 5% and 50% the number of the same poor has not been reduced in Armenia.

"If we look, for example, the growth of salary, yes, we have had an increase in nominal salaries in recent years. The salary growth was also accompanied by certain inflation, but in this year, for example, we have double-digit inflation in terms of food. People who are poor or low income are spent most of their income to buy vegetables to buy fruit whose prices have risen double digits.

In other words, we cannot assess the activity of the whole country with the activity of the whole country in such or two days, "Persian said.

The economist recorded that Armenia is the poorest country in the region in terms of its poverty. "We are poor even from Central Asian countries. At present, we can even exceed Ukraine in terms of poverty, and in the case of the other CIS countries we have a higher poverty rate. Therefore, talk about the development of the flight and change of living standards, I think it does not make sense, "Persian said.

In addition, he noted that in recent years the number of loans has increased dramatically. "In other words, people's loans are growing faster than income, which indicates that the living standards can get better, but it is mainly due to the growth of loans, which will exacerbate their living standards or social problems," he said.
