The Georgian Foreign Ministry condemned the EU's attempts to use the integration issue as a political tool
The Foreign Ministry of Georgia condemned the attempts of the European Union to use the issue of integration into the community as a political tool. This is stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairsstatementin which he commented.
"We condemn all attempts to use the issue of EU membership as a political tool, which harms Georgia-EU relations. We regret that the report presents a biased assessment of a number of events, which is not unexpected, especially considering the EU institutions' persistent reference to the attacks and violence against Georgian state institutions related to the events that took place during the local self-government elections in Tbilisi on October 4, 2025," the text reads.
The MFA of Georgia expressed concern that the steps and statements taken by the EU institutions towards Georgia are aimed at influencing the country's internal politics and contradict both the spirit of relations between Georgia and the EU, as well as common interests.
Earlier, EU Commissioner Martha Kos appealed to the Georgian authorities to stop imprisoning opposition leaders and journalists, after which they will consider the process of Georgia's EU integration.
