Alen Simonyan and Sahiba Gafarova noted with satisfaction the recent developments in the normalization of Armenia–Azerbaijan relations

Within the framework of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, a bilateral meeting between the Speakers of the Parliaments of Armenia and Azerbaijan took place in Istanbul on April 17.

During the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the recent developments in the process of normalizing relations between the two countries, including steps aimed at strengthening peace and stability, as well as establishing and expanding trade ties.

The role of the Inter-Parliamentary Union as an important platform for interparliamentary cooperation was emphasized. In this context, the sides highly appreciated and expressed gratitude to the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Martin Chungong, for his personal efforts in facilitating dialogue between the Speakers of the Parliaments of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The Speakers positively assessed the contacts between parliamentary delegations within international organizations, which began after their meeting held in Geneva in October 2025, and agreed to continue these interactions.

The Speakers of the Parliaments of Armenia and Azerbaijan underlined the importance of continuing constructive parliamentary dialogue to further strengthen trust between the two societies.
