Ararat Mirzoyan and President of Latvia discussed mechanisms for diversifying economic ties and expanding access of Armenian products to European markets

President of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs received Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to the expanding cooperation between Armenia and Latvia, reflected both in the recent dynamic of high-level reciprocal visits and in tha.e steadily developing bilateral agenda.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Edgars Rinkēvičs exchanged views on concrete opportunities for developing the partnership between the two countries, placing particular emphasis on the need to expand trade and economic cooperation. They also addressed mechanisms for diversifying economic ties and increasing access for Armenian products to European markets.

The agenda of the deepening Armenia-EU partnership was also discussed in detail. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that Armenia highly values the continued support of EU member states, including Latvia, for advancing Armenia’s European integration agenda. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the successful hosting in Yerevan of the European Political Community Summit in May this year.

The head of Armenia’s foreign policy agency and the President of Latvia also exchanged views on regional developments. Minister Mirzoyan briefed the Latvian President on the new economic and connectivity opportunities emerging in the context of peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the work underway toward the implementation of the TRIPP project.

The meeting also addressed cooperation between Armenia and Latvia within international organizations, including in the framework of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which will be held in Yerevan in October.
