“Azerbaijani incursions are not accidental; some of them control critical infrastructure in Armenia.” This was written by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the executive body of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).

“A few days ago, Azerbaijani media outlets ceremoniously reported that an Azerbaijani company had carried out the first drilling and blasting operations at the Sotk gold mine.

Moreover, the same report stated that since August 2025, extensive exploration and assessment studies have been conducted at the mine, as a result of which the remaining reserves available for extraction were estimated at 1.03 million ounces of gold.

By the way, for those who do not remember, let me remind you that part of this enormous mine, which had been operated by Armenia since the Soviet period, came under Azerbaijani control after the 44-day war, while another section is, so to speak, located in a neutral zone.

After 2020, in 2021–2023, the directions of the Azerbaijani incursions into different parts of Armenia were not chosen by accident.

Some of them give control over critical infrastructure in Armenia, some over water resources, and I have not even mentioned the Sotk mine and its significance,” he noted.
