Armenian Ambassador and Iranian Vice President discussed obstacles in the freight transport sector

Armenia’s Ambassador to Iran Grigor Hakobyan and Iranian Vice President and Co-Chair of the Armenia-Iran Intergovernmental Joint Commission Hamid Pourmohammadi discussed the existing obstacles in the freight transport sector. The Embassy of Armenia in Iran reported this.

The Armenian ambassador and the Iranian vice president emphasized the importance of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission platform.

“The sides discussed the current state of bilateral freight transportation, the existing obstacles, and ways to address them,” the statement said.

The Armenian ambassador and the Iranian vice president highlighted the importance of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission platform and stressed the need to hold its 19th session in the near future.

It should be recalled that on September 12, Armenia and Iran agreed in Julfa to introduce a simplified customs corridor (a “green corridor”) at the border between the two countries. The mechanism is expected to be launched at the Norduz–Agarak (Meghri) border customs checkpoint to speed up the passage of cargo and reduce the time vehicles spend waiting. The sides signed a memorandum of understanding on the customs “green corridor.”
