A new biodiversity park will be established in the heart of the capital, covering approximately 1.2 hectares adjacent to the Matenadaran. This latest project, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of IDBank’s founding, is being implemented jointly with Matenadaran, with the parties having signed a memorandum of understanding and an agreement․ This marks the first joint initiative between the two institutions. The idea for the park was conceived and will be implemented by the Armenian Tree Project Foundation (ATP). According to the plan, the park will serve as an organic extension of the Matenadaran's exhibitions, featuring the planting of unique plant species mentioned in Armenian manuscripts and miniatures.
Prior to the signing of the memorandum, the guests took a guided tour of the Matenadaran. The launch of the partnership was marked by a symbolic ceremony: IDBank’s name was added to the Matenadaran's Arch of Honor, which features the names of the institution's benefactors. The Bank, represented by Chairman of the Management Board Mher Abrahamyan, was also awarded the "Benefactor of Matenadaran" medal.
Highlighting the importance of the partnership, Mher Abrahamyan, Chairman of the Management Board of IDBank, noted: "As you know, the Bank is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, and we are implementing several major projects as part of the jubilee events. In this context, the collaboration with Matenadaran is highly valuable and significant for us. Environmental protection has always been one of the key pillars of IDBank’s social responsibility. To build a safer, greener, and cleaner future, it is essential to bring together the efforts of the business, cultural, environmental, and public sectors. Only through shared resources and dedication can we create a better environment for ourselves and future generations."
Ara Khzmalyan, Director of the "Matenadaran" Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts Named after M. Mashtots, stated: "We are taking the practical steps to bring this project to life with the support of IDBank. This is the first major allocation of funding for initiatives in this area, and I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Bank’s management. We plan to feature unique designated zones within the park, particularly a dedicated area where plants referenced in Armenian manuscripts will be cultivated. Thus, the park will also carry a clear educational role, and I am confident that in the future, part of our educational-cultural programs will be held right here."
Having a green and sustainable Armenia is one of the cornerstones of IDBank’s strategy, as evidenced by the environmental projects implemented by the Bank, including the renovation of Moskovyan Park and the "Symphonic Forest" project. The biodiversity park being established at the Matenadaran as part of IDBank’s 35th anniversary is another green project of IDBank.
