“Following my contacts with the President of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan, I have the initial impression that we have an opportunity to give peace this kind of shape,” Nikol Pashinyan said.

“What should peace look like after the signing and ratification of the Armenia–Azerbaijan peace agreement?

Armenia should have a territory of 29,743 square kilometers. The delimitation and demarcation of the borders should take place according to this logic, on the basis of the Alma-Ata Declaration.

The issue of enclaves and exclaves should be resolved according to the following formula: there should be no enclaves or exclaves on either side of the border. In other words, the two countries, Armenia and Azerbaijan, should exchange territories of precisely corresponding sizes.

All roads and communication routes should be open within the framework of the TRIPP project, but not only within its framework. All communication routes should operate and remain open, including routes enabling connectivity from Armenia to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory and from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan through Armenian territory.

Next, Armenia and Azerbaijan should have no claims against each other and should leave each other in peace on all issues and in every respect. There should be no claims, including those based on the logic of Karabakh, Gardman, Shirvan, or Nakhijevan, or on the concept of ‘Western Azerbaijan.’

Now, the next and perhaps most important question: Is there a genuine opportunity to give peace this kind of shape?

Following my contacts with the President of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan, I have the initial impression that we have an opportunity to give peace this kind of shape. In the coming period, we will be working to realize this opportunity and turn it into reality,” he noted.
