BBC to air documentary about Putin

On Thursday, BBC-2 will start broadcasting a TV documentary series about Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin titled “Putin, Russia and the West”, The Voice of Russia reported.

The first of the four episodes which is to be broadcast tonight is called “Taking Control”.

It captures the meeting held between Putin, the then Russian President and US President George Bush Junior in June 2001.

During that meeting, which took place three months before the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the leaders of the two countries discussed the problem of the global terrorism which they believed originated in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The director Paul Mitchel has already made documentaries about Russian top senior officials. For example 1997 saw the release of his film about Russia’s first president Boris Yeltsin called “Czar Boris”.
