Armenian rock band launches music video for Eurovision

The Armenian rock band Dorians has made its music video for the Eurovision 2012 Song Contest available online.

The music of the song, This is our World, was written by Arman Pahlevanyan. The author of the text is Vardan Zadoyan. The music video lasts 2.46 minutes.

Speaking to Tert.am, the band’s producer, Vahagn Gevorgyan, said Armenia has not yet received the European Broadcasting Union’s official invitation to attend the concert.

“We have proposed our option. By presenting this song, we express our willingness to attend the Eurovision 2012 Song Contest set to take place in Baku. But it is up to the Public Television to decide,” he said.

The producer is already aware of the general attitude towards the song, though does not consider it a decisive factor for the band’s participation in the concert.

“That’s only an opinion or an attitude,” Gevorgyan told Tert.am.

He said further he does not know anything about other ambitious candidates wishing to attend the contest, but added that he would very much like to see System of Down in Eurovision.

Gohar Gasparyan, The head of Armenia’s delegation to Eurovision, declined to give any comments to Tert.am, saying that the Public Television is still undecided about the potential participant.

“If we had any news, we would be the first to report it,” she said.

The Armenian Public Television had earlier decided to select this year’s participant internally. A special commission composed of TV broadcasters and music producers is expected to make the selection. The name of the participant and the song will be announced until March 18.

Armenia’s Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan told a news conference on Monday that she would like Dorians to represent Armenia in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
