Azerbaijan to spend $63 m on Eurovision

The Azerbaijani Government will allocate 50 million Manats ($63.3 million) from the country’s State Budget for covering the organizational expenses of the Eurovision 2012 Song Contest.

According to APA News Agency, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance has issued an instruction to allocate 77 Manats for the organization of national and international events. The major part of the sum will go to Eurovision.

The Eurovision 2012 semifinals are scheduled for May 22 and 24. The final contest is due on May 26.

Azerbaijan was declared a Eurovision host country after its singers, Nigyar Jemal and Eldar Gasimov, became winners in last year’s contest.

Armenia has recently submitted an application to participate in Eurovision 2012.
