Yerevan mayor meets Indian ambassador

Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan received on Wednesday Indian Ambassador to Armenia Achal Kumar Malhotra.

The diplomat conveyed his greetings to Margaryan on being elected a mayor, saying that governing a historical city is a responsible task full of challenges.

According to a press release by the City Hall, the mayor spoke of the high-level Indian-Armenian relations, emphasizing the importance of establishing and developing the bilateral partnership on the local self-government level as well. He also expressed the municipality’s willingness to strengthen and extend the cooperation with different cities and towns of India.

“I am sure that the cooperation between the Indian and Armenian towns will have a new and more active continuation, and I look forward to assistance from you and Armenia’s ambassador to India,” Margaryan said.

The ambassador in turn expressed willingness to assist in the implementation of education and business programs. He also thanked the mayor for the plan to open a park of India in Yerevan, noting that it would be yet another proof of the centuries-old friendship between the two countries.
