Armenia marking International Day of Francophonie

The world is marking International Day of Francophonie.

On this occasion, Armenia is expected to host over 250 social and cultural events.

At a news conference hosted by the French Embassy in Armenia, Christian Ter-Stepanyan, Advisor for Francophonie to Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, reported that a month of Francophonie will be held in Armenia this year.

“We are happy to say that Armenia’s cultural and educational life is going to be in the limelight this month,” Ter-Stepanyan said.

Armenia joined the International Organization of the Francophonie in 2004, with observer status. In 2008, the country received the status of associate member.

French Ambassador to Armenia Henry Renault began his speech in Armenian. He assured all the attendees of a successful beginning of the month of Francophonie in Armenia.

This season has an excellent start. Armenians are going to see the most social and cultural events this year as compared with the previous years, Ambassador Renault said.

Swiss Ambassador to Armenia Konstantin Obolensky noted that International Day of Francophonie is marked on March 20. However, this year’s events are already being presented in Armenia.

A large-scale program is expected not only in Armenia’s capital, but also in the country’s regions. Almost all the ambassadors to Armenia have prepared interesting events on the occasion.
