Armenia’s Ministry of Diaspora presents new books

Presentation of 18 books has been held at Armenia’s Ministry of Diaspora on Thursday.

Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan noted that all the volumes are dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Armenian book-printing and the World Book Capital City title UNESCO has bestowed on Yerevan this year.

“Sorting out the priorities, we place orders for manuals dealing with religion, Armenian community in Syria, mixed marriages.

Armenian Diaspora yearbooks sum up the developments throughout the Armenian Diaspora,” the minister said. She pointed out the importance of the newly released volume of Armenia’s Constitution in Western Armenian.

Radik Martirosyan, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, said that Armenia’s Ministry of Diaspora is implementing impressive programs.

“Both in the past and now we have serious problems in book publishing. I mean financing. There was time that our society was not even aware of our scholars’ work,” Academician Martirosyan said. The situation is different now, and the Ministry of Diaspora has greatly contributed to it, he added.

Besides the authors, attending the presentation were Director of the Institute of History of Armenia Ashot Melkonyan, Director of the Institute of Literature Avik Isahakyan, representatives of public and political organizations.
