“Artavazd” award ceremony scanty, but not formal – Azat Gasparyan

On the international Theatre Day the Union of Theatrical Figures of Armenia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, conducted today “Artavazd” annual award giving ceremony.

The event was also dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Union. The actors this time were not receiving statues but a modest prize “Artavazd”.

Film and theatre actor Azat Gasparyan told Tert.am that the event was not formal but scanty. “Not bad, instead of being paid for our work we are getting prizes. We are people who do not need much. The applauses are the only honorarium for us today.”

Azat Gasparyan reminds that it is not “Oscar”. “I do not know what it is but we are being satisfied with it. Of course it would have been good if the first-prize winner is granted at least 200-400 thousand AMD. Of course there is nothing like it.”

The ceremony is being conducted under the highest auspices of President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. Among the guests of the event were former chairman of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan, Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan.

The theatrical figures used the opportunity and asked Hovik Abrahamyan to mediate in placing statue of Gohar Gasparyan in Yerevan.
