6th republican photo beauty contest among disabled women in Armenia

The awards ceremony of the 6th republican photo beauty contest among disabled women has been held in Yerevan.

The contest was organized by the Unison NGO.

Forty-six disabled women from Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and Javakhk applied for participation.

The contest is supposed to show that women remain n charming and beautiful despite being disabled.

Talking to journalists, Armen Alaverdyan, Chairman of the Unison NGO, said that in 2004, when the contest was held for the first time some people considered it unethical. “But we have been able to prove we can compete with the Miss Armenia contest,” he said.

He said that women aged 16 to 45 can apply for participation. “We have already selected the best ten of the applicants,” Alaverdyan said.

Anahit Abajyan (Akhalkalak, Georgia) won the Grand Prix, “Miss Beauty-2012.”

Zhaneta Hayrapetyan (Yerevan, Armenia) won the Vice-Miss prize.

The Miss Charm prize was awarded to Kristine Piruzyan (Akhtala, Alaverdi region, Armenia).

Anahit Khalatyan (village of Yerjapat, Aparan region, Armenia) won the Miss Will prize.

The Miss Unison title was conferred on Mary Alhamyan (village of Norapat, Hoktemberyan region, Armenia).

The contest jury included Honored Artist of Armenia Arsen Grigoryan (chairman), Honored Artist of Armenia ‘Forsh’ and anchorman Avet Barseghyan.

Among the contest sponsors are the Yerevan Municipality, Paros Foundation, Zigzag shop, Nushikyan Association. President of the association Garegin Nushikyan attended the awards ceremony.

Among the sponsors were also the Mobile Center shop, Noyan Tapan bookstore, Pasiflora flower shop.

Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan said that all the participants will receive money prizes.
