Celebrations dedicated to 500th anniversary of Armenia’s typography launched

The celebrations dedicated to the Yerevan World Capital of Book 2012 and 500th anniversary of Armenia’s typography have launched.

Armenia’s National Library’s press release says guests from Armenia and abroad will gather in the library’s Tamanyan building on April 22 and will meet there with Ingrid Parent, president of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). The meeting will be followed by “From Gutenberg to Digital Age: Unfinished story for libraries” discussion. On the same day the guests and visitors will attend the exhibition of ancient books that will open in the showing hall of the National Library.

Exposition of literature dedicated to the 20th anniversary of estbalishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and the United States will also be organized. A donation is expected during the event: Law librarian of the Library of U.S. Congress David Mao will hand to the Armenian National Library publications of the Library of Congress.

On April 22 the mobile library– Bibliobus – will come up with the exposition of books dedicated to Armenia’s regions. “Donate Book” action will also be conducted.

On April 23 David Mao will deliver a lecture at the National Library on ‘The Library of Congress’.
