Armenia’s State Philharmonic Orchestra to give exclusive concert dedicated to the Armenian Genocide

Each year on April 24 Armenia’s State Philharmonic Orchestra gives a concert dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.

This year is not exclusion, though this time the event is scheduled for April 25. The orchestra will present Rossini’s Stabat Mater work.

Stabat Mater is a musical work the first part of which presents the sufferings of the Virgin Mary during Christ’s crucifixion. In the second part the sinful asks for heaven in his posthumous life.

Armenia’s State Academic Orchestra will too participate in the concert. World famous soloists of Armenian descent – Karine Babajanian from Germany, Juliette Galtsian from Switzerland, Pertch Karazian from Armenia, Hayk Deinian from Germany – will perform in the concert.

Anahit Ordyan, public relations officer of the State Philharmonic Orchestra, told Tert.am that the invited soloists have previously performed together with the orchestra. Rossini’s Stabat Mater is not a premier for the Philharmonic orchestra. This staff of soloists, though, will perform this work with the orchestra for the first time.

The concert is organized within the framework of the Armenia’s Culture Ministry and Pyunik All-Armenian Foundation’s program ‘Hundred concerts dedicated to the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims.’

Rossini spent ten years for the creation of this work.
