Genocide museum hosts book exhibition

An exhibition entitled Books as Witnesses of Genocide opened at the Genocide-Museum Institute earlier today.

The initiative is part of the Yerevan World Book Capital 2012 celebrations, also dedicated to the 500 anniversary of printing art.
 

The exhibits represent around 300 ancient printed books that served as original sources. They include travelers’ notes, textbooks and unique publications covering the social, cultural and business life of western Armenians. There is also unique valuable literature acquired in the past five years by the assistance of President Serzh Sargsyan, General Director of VivaCell MTS Ralph Yirikyan and the pan-Armenian charity foundation Pyunik. Most of the books are showcased at the Museum’s exhibition hall. The libraries of the National Academy of Sciences and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaksutyun’s (ARF-D) bureaus have also contributed to the exhibition.


Speaking at the opening event, Director of the Museum Hayk Demoyan said the materials on display as evidence confirming the fact of the Genocide yet another time.
